CHATTING WITH CYNTHIA --
We have certainly been enjoying the unseasonably nice days that January has blessed us with. The best part--the weather has allowed travel so we have seen many more customers than previous Winters. Fabric salespeople have also been out in force; just wait until their beautiful fabric begins filling our shelves!
2012 has also brought along new classes and events. Our calendar is already polka-dotted with these; hope you can join us for some.
How is last year's fabric room organization going? Did you keep your plan going or was it too steep a task to venture last year? Even if you are not ready to organize, perhaps you are determined to not keep every small scrap of fabric. An easy solution for someone who hates to throw away fabric: Keep an old pillowcase near your cutting area. Throw the scraps in there and when full, sew shut. Be sure no pins, needles, etc. find their way in. This functional scrapbag can be used as an animal bed, extra padding when packing, etc. If it becomes soiled, torn or worn out it can be easily disposed of. For most the quilters the guilt is over by then. They know their fabric had been a comfort to others, even if it wasn't in a quilt. Keep Stitching!

BLOCK OF THE MONTH --

Four Seasons at Minglewood by Debbie Roberts begins in January for this 12 month Block of the Month. Christmas or Blackbird Designs are the two colorway choices (But Cynthia said she could be talked into Ks Troubles too). One to four blocks per month will be made depending on which quilt size you choose. This sampler draws from 15 Traditional pieced blocks and allows for some custom choices on your part. Prices include Book, Blocks, Sashing, Borders and Binding. (This pricing does not include tax or shipping/handling.) Your choice in sizes:

    Setting A uses 32 pieced blocks--101” x 101” is $19.99 per Month

    Setting Q uses 20 pieced blocks--88” x 103” is $18.99 per Month

    Setting L uses 15 pieced blocks--80” x 107” is $17.99 per Month

    Setting T uses 13 pieced blocks--78” x 78” is $15.99 per Month

Ginger Rose by Nancy Murty (same designer as Tea Time) will be available in February. You will make a 73” x 90” quilt using traditional pieced blocks. The quilt is in rich warm browns, orange, rust, green, yellow and black. Ginger Rose is an 8-month program and will run $20.29 per month. Price include Book, Blocks, Sashing, Borders and Binding. (This pricing does not include tax or shipping/handling.)

Strip Six is a new book out by Daniela Stout of Cozy Quilt Designs. We are adapting the book to allow you a monthly strip experience and quarterly projects. The way this will work:
1. You choose the colorway, the size and the setting for your project.
2. You pre-register so your strips will be pre-cut & ready for you.
3. Your fabric & book fee is distributed over 3 months.
4. Month 1 you recieve half of your blocks' strips, Month 2 the other half, & Month 3 includes borders and binding.
5. Month 4, you are ready to move onto the next project. Of course, your book is already paid for so from this time forward you are only paying for strips and borders/binding.
Project #1 will use Block Six. Color choices: Kansas Trouble, 30's or Blue/Brown/Gold Batiks. Below is the chart of setting choices with sizes and prices per month. We are scheduled to begin in February. Now is the time you reserve your kit.
